‘Crescendo’ meetings transition to online format
Crescendo members have moved their meetings to a virtual setting in an attempt to maintain the members of the club’s involvement.
“Crescendo is an art journal, and it produces one journal at the end of the school year,” sophomore Kalliope Kornfeld said. “Then [the journals] are for sale to raise funds for the creation of the next year’s journal.”
The members of the club have been meeting online using their school emails to work on the production of their art journal, which is scheduled to be distributed in late May.
“After school clubs, or programs caused us to go online chatting for right now,” Kornfeld, one of the club’s co-presidents, said. “We all have similar classes and can meet in the hallways and such.”
The club is planning on beginning regular meetings again next semester, according to Kornfeld. However, until Crescendo begins after school meetings again, the members have been doing all of their work for the upcoming journal online.
“So far this year, we’ve been emailing,” sophomore Anna Kintree, the club’s other co-president, said. “If we get scheduling worked out, we’ll start meeting again.”
According to English teacher Janet Duckham, the club’s second-year sponsor, Crescendo has been around for as long she can remember. Enrollment is at five students after many of the members graduated last year.
“Crescendo aims to provide an avenue for student creative writing and visual artwork,” Duckham said. “It would be great to see a larger group participating.”
The club’s purpose is to critique student artwork and publish it in a journal for sale at the end of the year. Last year, the club met on White Day Monday’s after school.
Crescendo is still accepting new members. Students who wish to join can contact Kornfeld or Kintree by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. #
